During his 35 year recording career, Stefan Grossman probably never released a more personal or self-consciously artistic effort than this 1975 album. On many cuts of this all-instrumental disk, Grossman used the novelty of the recently developed 16-track studio to create multi-layered guitar instrumentals, observing in his notes that "At times I felt like a painter. Instead of using a canvas, palette and colors, my tools were a wide assortment of guitars, sophisticated microphones, and the ambience of the studio."

This recording has long been a favorite of Grossman's and many of his most dedicated fans.
